SEW MANY CHOICES

You know when you have all these wonderful ideas going round in your head and you really don't know quite how to use them, well I have the opposite problem. I know what I want to do and what to do it on but there aren't enough hours in the day to do it.
Take this weekend for example. I have entered into two exciting swaps. The flower themed one organised by Sew Scrumptious and the Tilda one being run by Faerie Nuff. I'm really thrilled to be a part of them both and they will be done, but isn't it typical that this month is now turning out to be one of the busiest of the year.
I did manage to start some of my sewing yesterday..ooh I've just seen the time exactly midnight so that statement is still correct.., but today was our gorgeous grandson's 3rd birthday and so we have been otherwise occupied. He had a lovely party at a local play barn and then back home for the family to continue playing and eating. Lots of little nibbles and jelly yumm!! He received so many lovely presents, but he was an absolute star behaving really well and thanking everyone so sweetly. No wonder we're so proud of him.
So once he had gone off to bed I decided to have another sewing session, but then remembered that I had 3 pairs of slippers to do as well and one pair were larger than I normally do, so I had to draft another pattern. Still it's all sewing and I do love it I just wish there were just a few more hours in the day.
How did I ever go to work full time!
Wanted to show a peek at my swaps in progress but thought I'd better not spoil the surprise so here are a few shots of the slippers taking shape and some of the lovely fabrics I am thinking of using.

Back again soon

HI HO! HI HO! Its back to work I go...

Well who'd have thought that having waited 43 years to retire I would land up back as an employee before I've even had time to practice being a grumpy old woman. There was I fondly eyeing up those CK and Orla shopping trolleys to get my own back for years of bruised shins and ankles when my daughters employee suddenly gets pregnant. What's more I volunteered!!

Seriously though today has only been my 3rd day and it's not at all as bad as I imagined. Even got DH cooking dinner! Now that's a bonus.

I've decided to be very philosophical about my depleted free time though, more money means more shopping and collecting and visiting charity shops (doing my bit there, but have to confess I always feel the winner when I find some treasure) and of course more car boots and collectible fairs, and since these are usually visited at weekends I think I can cope. Talking of lovely treasures I have put a couple of pictures of some of my latest finds over on the side. A collection of goodies to display in my kitchen and a piece of nostalgia to frame. I have lots more and will take some more piccies later.

Bye for now

SO MUCH FOR PLANNING

Afternoon all
Well what a day. Planned to head off to Home Pierpoint the National Watersports Centre to have a good wander and blow away the cobwebs, but opened the curtains to see everything white. Now that's not normally enough to put us off but the sight of a 4 x 4 sliding sideways round the roundabout outside our house is! So in the end its chilling and sewing (and the glass of wine). What a tough life I lead. The sewing is partly for the lovely flower themed swap being organised by Sew Scrumptious. Cant wait to find out who I will be sending my goodies to.
Told my daughter that I was starting this blog and she reminded me of lots of the really stupid things I've done in the past and so I've decided to note them down and tell a few tales when my blog inspiration falters.
In the meantime I've added a few pictures from my garden this morning. My 'retreat' doesn't seem to conjure up balmy days in the sun here, but it is pretty, especially viewed from the warmth of my snug. Just off to have toasted teacakes yummm!

Bye for now

NANNY'S SUNDAY TEAS

Hi there
This is my very first blog and no doubt I will look back on it in a few months time and wonder how many of those glasses of wine I had drunk before I started so you'll have to forgive me if I ramble on a bit. I want to share my love of life, sewing, days out and of course the bottles of wine on the way. I have called this first post Nanny's Sunday Teas because way back when my children were small we all used to go to my in laws house almost every Sunday afternoon. Sometimes there were just the four of us and sometimes gangs of us but the lasting memory is of warm sunshine, cricket in the meadow and delicious Sunday Tea. Cucumber, salmon or ham sandwiches followed by nanny's homemade cakes served on floral tea plates and cups of tea made from real tea leaves. Of course there were quarrels between the children and sometimes the adults but on the whole it was such a warm and comforting experience and one which even though my children are all grown up now they still remember fondly and often talk about. I think its great that although they are both very modern and up to date that they still appreciate that even the simplest things can bring such pleasure. Well its getting late now so I will sign off. Next time I hope to have some pictures of some of my latest projects and some of the super vintage finds I have picked up recently.

Good night all
Jenny
